Fastbreak Friday

Five of the top uncommitted players are making important visits this weekend and a number of top prospects will be on hand for some of the best football games of the early season. Five-star forward Patrick Patterson leads the charge this week in this edition of Fastbreak Friday.
Things will be buzzing in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday as Billy Donovan and the rest of the "Gator boys" as Joakim Noah refers to himself and his National Champion teammates. The Gators will receive their championship rings at halftime of the Central Florida game.

Also there will be Patterson, the No. 14 ranked player in the country. The trip marks the first official visit for Patterson this fall. Donovan shadowed the 6-foot-8 West Virginian all year long on the AAU trail.
Gator commits and high school teammates Nick Calathes and Chandler Parsons will be on hand for the halftime festivities as well.
Texas struck it big last week with a pair of commitments from big men Clint Chapman of Oregon and Alexis Wangmene, who is off to Blair Academy in New Jersey.
This weekend, Rick Barnes and Co. are hoping to strike a cord with five-star forward Anthony Randolph, who is the Longhorns top target in the 2007 class. He'll be on hand for the football game of the year (Saturday's game against No. 1 Ohio State) with 2007 UT commit Gary Johnson.
Also in Austin are key in-state prospects from the class of 2008 in guards Willie Warren and J'Covan Brown.
Keeping with the football game day theme, a lot of eyes will be focused on South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame-Penn State battle. Minnesota natives Blake Hoffarber and Jon Leuer, both 2007 prospects, will see the game along with five-star 2009 big man Stephan Van Treese.
South Carolina is playing host to Georgia on the gridiron as well as a quartet of Peach State hoopsters. Tanner Smith, Chris Reynolds, Toby Veal and Jerel Stephenson, all 2008 prospects, will be in Columbia on Saturday for the big SEC rivalry game.
New Rutgers head coach Fred Hill is prepping for his biggest visit weekend since taking over the Big East program. He welcomes commitments Corey Chandler and Earl Pettis. Key targets Anthony McClain, the second best remaining center in the class of 2007, Philadelphia's Lavoy Allen and Idris Hilliard will all be in town.
Underclassmen Dexter Strickland, Jarrett Mann and Greg Echenique are all making the trip to the Big East school, too.
Staying in the Big East, Pittsburgh welcomes recent pledge Bradley Wanamaker and plays host to point guard Chris Wright. Syracuse commitment Donte Green is making his official visit this weekend.
Boston College is hosting its three commitments – Joshua Southern, Corey Raji and Rakim Sanders – for the class of 2007 this weekend. Darquavis Tucker is visiting Miami. Michigan State will have 2008 guard Brad Redford on campus. Keegan Bell, an Alabama point guard, is officially visiting LSU.
Cal welcomes 2007 commit Drew Viney to campus this weekend as well as Drew Gordon, one of the top prospect in California's 2008 class.
Jeff Capel struck it big with in-staters Blake Griffin and Cade Davis, who will be in this weekend for their official visits, and recently scored with guard Tony Neysmith last weekend. AAU teammates Tyrel Reed, one of the top remaining guards on the board in the 2007 class, and Travis Releford will both be in Norman. In-stater Terrence Boyd is making the trip, too.
Virginia is bringing in it's most important target to date this year in five-star center Solomon Alabi, the top rated center that is still uncommitted. NC State is hosting the first recruit of the class of 2007, Johnny Thomas.
Four important Atlantic 10 visitors to keep an eye include Gaby Ngoundjo, who is visiting Charlotte, Xavier Alexander, who is visiting George Washington, and Martavis Kee, who is visiting Temple. Dominique Buckley is visiting Xavier.
In the West, BYU is bringing in New Yorker Jimmer Fredette, Utah is hosting Arizona guard Ty Abbott and Texas guard Trumaine Johnson is checking out Nevada.
The mid-majors are gearing up for a big weekend. Tulane is hosting Georgia point guard Zac Swansey and Texas wing Kris Richard. Omar Wattad, a Tennessee combo guard, is checking out UNC Wilmington. Long Island native Andrew Beinert, a talented and very impressive mid-major guard, is visiting Davidson. Georgia combo guard Lyndon Jordan will look around Fairfield. Another Peach Stater, Kevin Anderson, is a guest for Appalachian State.
