Fast start for 2006 Denver small forward

Versatile 2006 small forward Grant Parker caught the attention of Rivals.com this summer in Las Vegas with his ability to track down the ball and then push it on the break while playing for Colorado Pump N Run. Parker, 6-foot-7, 215-pounds, is off to a fast start for Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colo., and colleges are starting to take notice.
"Colorado State has been in to see Grant," said Cherry Creek head coach Mike Bookhart. "Valparaiso is coming soon. He is also hearing from San Diego, Creighton, Loyola Marymount, and Dartmouth."

Averaging 19 points and 8 rebounds per game this season for his 3-1 Cherry Creek team, Parker can score either inside or outside and has solid skills with the ball, even more important to Coach Bookhart is his ability to rebound.
"Grant has a real good inside/out game," said Bookhart. "He shoots the ball well and is getting better shooting off the dribble. Grant is an excellent rebounder. He does a good job at rebounding outside of his area. He knows ho to go and get the ball."
It is on the defensive side of the ball where Parker has his most room for improvement.
"Grant needs to get quicker in order to guard the wing position," said Bookhart. "He also needs to work on his off the ball defense.
"Grant is a very good kid and is a hard worker. He will only continue to get better."
Parker carries a 3.6 GPA.
