Earlier on Monday, Rivals.com wrote that DePaul could be the heavy favorite for one of 2019's best point guards Tyger Campbell after a weekend visit.

The wait to lock up the six-footer from La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere wasn't a long one as the nation's No. 24 player made his commitment to Dave Leitao and the Blue Demons on Monday night. The building of a new arena and the chance to be a part of rebuilding the basketball tradition were big sells

Along with committing, Campbell plans to move into the class of 2018 so he can arrive on campus earlier.

"They didn’t have a stellar season last year but that’s why they need a player like me," Campbell told Rivals.com. "I really want to bring high level basketball back to DePaul.

"The big sell was really Chicago, itself and Coach (Dave) Leitao. Coach Leitao is such a great guy and so laid back and really just wise"

A heady point guard who is a true facilitator, Campbell is the owner of an off-the-charts basketball IQ and he's a tough on the ball defender who can go and get his own offense when things break down. His solid play helped La Lumiere win the Dick's National Tournament earlier this spring.

Currently a member of the class of 2019, Campbell will eventually make a decision about whether to stay where he is academically or enroll as a member of the class of 2018. At DePaul, he'll be reunited with his former coach at La Lumiere, Shane Heirman, who recently took a job as an assistant coach.

"He always been on my back trying to make me better," said Campbell. "I could see it has been working, since we won the National Championship this past year."
