Ex-Rice HS Big Man Transfers to the Red Flash

St. Francis, PA, which picked up one of the best seniors from West Virginia during the fall signing period, also secured one of the top high school players from the class of 2000 as a mid-year transfer. He's Jason Osborne, a 6-7, 245 power forward/center who prepped at Rice High School in New York City.
Osborne averaged 13.1 points and 14.2 rebounds during his senior campaign (1999-2000), as Rice won the city and state championships that year. He signed with Dayton but was redshirted during his first year at the A10 school because of knee and shoulder injuries. He saw limited action in two games this season before announcing on November 26th that he decided to transfer.

"I've made the decision to leave Dayton to attend another school where I can start fresh and possibly have more of an opportunity to play," Osborne said at the time. "I learned some valuable lessons while I was here, and I appreciate what the coaching staff has tried to do for me."
"Since coming to UD, I've struggled on and off the court," Osborne continued. "To the degree that things were under my control, I take full responsibility for that. I'm going to focus on my academics and finish up the semester strong before I transfer."
Osborne is currently enrolled at the Loretto, PA, school. Following the Fall 2002 semester, Osborne will join Daniel Reed, a 6-8, 230 power forward from Princeton, WV, as a newcomer for the 2002-03 Red Flash.
