Ex-Georgia Signee Finds New Home

Cassiano Matheus, a 6-10 center, 245-pound center from Sao Paulo, Brazil, becomes the second ex-Georgia signee to hook up with a different program. Matheus signed with Utah State.
The South American native joins South Plains Junior College teammate Marcus Jackson in finding a different fall 2003 destination after originally signing with Georgia during the November 2002 period.

Mohamed Abukar and Jordan Howell, who were also released from their National Letter of Intent by the Bulldogs' new head coach Dennis Felton, are still working on their future school. Both have a third hurdle to carry, a release from the SEC enabling them to join another league program, in addition to the qualified release provided almost immediately by Felton and the penalty waiver by the National Letter of Intent Steering Committee.
Matheus played sparingly as a freshman last season averaging 4.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 15 of South Plains games. He averaged 8.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore and shot 57.6 percent from the field while starting in 28 games for the Texans.
