Ex-Baylor Commitment Playing Well

Rashad Woods of Heritage Christian High School in Cleveland, Texas was at one time a 2005 Baylor commitment. Now that the 6-foot-7, 215-pound shooting guard has reopened his recruitment, he is considering three top high major programs along with Baylor.
Oklahoma, Texas, and Connecticut are the new schools on Woods’ short list.

Torrance Hicks, Woods’ old assistant coach at Heritage Christian has a lot of good things about the 2005 prospect.
“I think he is one of the two best juniors in Houston, David Devizian being the other,” said Coach Hicks. “He is a smooth lefty who is really smooth with the ball. He has above average athleticism. He’s shooting the three really well.”
Woods, who is averaging 23 points a game, has had a couple big scoring nights against two players ranked in the Rivals75 for the class of 2005.
“Rashad has scored over 30 points in his last four games,” said Coach Hicks. “In a recent game he went head to head with Gerald Green and outscored him 37 to 4 in a two point loss to Gulf Shores.... In a pre-season game, he outscored Fendi Onobun 38 to 14.”
Coach Hicks did note that Woods needs to become a more consistent defender instead of just rising to the occasion against top competition.
“He does needs work defensively. He needs to work on his footwork. He can lock his man when he has to. He rises to the challenge in the big games but needs to do it every night to be a great defender.”
