Euton ends it early

The class of 2008 isn't the only group of prospects making decisions these days. Class of 2010 forward Dakotah Euton picked a college home on Monday afternoon.
The 6-foot-7 power forward from Rose Hill Christian from Ashland, Kentucky verbally committed to the University of Kentucky.

"I verbally committed to UK today," Euton told Rivals.com exclusively on Monday afternoon. "I love the coaching staff and I really like the tradition they have going there. I want to be a part of that. I really like coach (Billy) Gillispie and he's a down to earth guy and really easy to talk to."
Euton, a lifelong Kentucky resident, said his decision to play for the Wildcats was a no-brainer. He said he is ready to be a part of the tradition at UK.
"It's a dream come true," Euton said. "My whole room is done up in Kentucky. I've been going to their games for a while. I went to a couple last year and seeing them come out and how they do the pre-game thing and turn the lights off and seeing the fireworks come off. It's amazing."
Euton participated in Kentucky's elite camp two weeks ago and tripped to Florida last weekend. Euton said he liked the connection with Gillispie.
"He's just a normal guy, real down to earth. You don't get nervous talking to him like you would other basketball coaches. He's normal and always cracking jokes. When it's time to work, he works. He told me that there is no other coach that is going to outwork him and that's what I like about him.
"He told me that 'I wouldn't commit you as a sophomore if I didn't think you'd come in as an impact player. I want you to be an impact guy and a player that isn't a role player. Stay motivated, have fun and keep getting better.'"
Euton has been an anchor for the Ohio Basketball Club 15 and under club on the AAU circuit this spring. His high energy and aggressiveness will certainly earn fan's respect over the next couple of years in high school and during his college career.
