There have been questions about Ervin's consistency shooting the ball, but he is reliable from behind the arc, if not a little streaky.

Ervin's passing skills are an underrated aspect of his game. He sees the floor well and despite having a reputation as a player who is out of control at times, generally makes good decisions.

The x-factor with Ervin? It's his intangibles. Gary possesses a great deal of charisma and is a natural leader. Players respect him and gravitate towards him. Ervin plays the game with a great deal of confidence, possessing a certain toughness and resilience that should help him in his battles in one of the top college conferences in the country.
