Ervin Ready For Next Step

Speedy point guard Gary Ervin has established this summer he is one of the best points available in the 2003 class. Now all he has to do is take care of the academic part and he will end up being a great college basketball player.
Ervin, who scored 21 points last night in a last second loss to Team Memphis at the Super Showcase here in Orlando, Florida, told us he plans on participating in an All Star game on July 31st to wrap up his evaluation period.

But while he was here at the Super Showcase, many top programs evaluated and appeared to like what Ervin has to offer as a player. He is a tough, hard-nosed and strong guard who loves to challenge the trees inside.
For the tournament, Mississippi State, Connecticut, Alabama, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Arizona, and Miami watched Ervin compete at this tournament. "I haven't ruled any school out," Ervin said. "I do want to make a Fall decision but don't know where I will be taking my visits."
Ervin is blessed with some serious fast twitch muscles, capable of taking it from first to third gear off the dribble in a heartbeat. He is an explosive leaper who can crunch a dunk with relative ease. Ervin possesses good lateral quickness as well as speed and leaping ability. He is a better passer than most give him credit for, a capable playmaker when he is under control.
Ervin has decided to attend Notre Dame Academy in Massachusetts for a post graduate year.
