LAS VEGAS -- Though he was born long after the Beach Boys' heyday, you kind of get the feeling that the Southern California band had Gary Ervin in mind when they penned the tune "I Get Around."
Ervin is the basketball version of a chamelon, and you never know what city and what team you'll find him playing with on any given day.
On Wednesday, the Insiders Report bumped into Ervin, a rising senior point guard from Paul Robeson H.S. in Brooklyn, N.Y., at Green Valley H.S.
Ervin is here playing with Georgia-based Team Reef, less than two weeks after playing with Riverside Church at the Nike Peach Jam and a few other late spring/early summer events.
Prior to that, he had competed with the Long Island Panthers and Team Reef at various spring events.
"You've gotta be like that nowadays," quipped Ervin when asked about his nomadic ways.
So who will Ervin play with this fall? Who knows, and even in this gambling mecca, I certainly would not put any money on any specific traveling program.
Time will tell, but wherever it is, you can count on IR to be there!
