Emerson has a Favorite

Daniel Emerson provided the glue for an outstanding Georgia Stars squad with his blue collar play in the interior. A top mid-major prospect, the 6-foot-6, 225-pound combo forward from Norcross (Ga.) High School, is down to two schools, with one having a decisive lead.
"Right now it's between Western Kentucky and St. Bonaventure,” said Emerson. “Those are my top two. I will have a decision after my visit to St. Bonaventure on October 1st. I’m definitely leaning toward Western Kentucky right now."

Emerson just returned from an official visit to Western Kentucky, and he spoke very positively about the experience.
"I liked my visit to Western Kentucky,” he said. “It went great. I went in with high expectations, but my visit exceeded all of them. The facilities are unbelievable. The coaches were great. I liked the town a lot. You can tell that they really love and support their basketball, and that helps a lot."
Although Western Kentucky has a clear lead at the moment, St. Bonaventure will have a chance to impress Emerson during his visit at the beginning of October.
"I’m close with Coach Solomon and Assistant Coach John Brannen,” he said. “They have done a good job of recruiting me. I don't know a lot about the school but will learn a lot when I have the chance to visit."
Emerson was scheduled to visit Kent State and South Alabama, but has cancelled both of those visits.
Along with deciding on a college, Emerson is also working hard in preparation for his senior season at Norcross. Outstanding 2006 prospect Jodie Meeks is a teammate, and Emerson believes Norcross can compete for a state championship.
"Im practicing hard,” he said. “We should have a good high school team, and I’d like to go out as a state champion. I try to play up to four hours a day."
