LOS ANGELES – Playing up on the 17-under level as a rising sophomore, Greg Brown has shown that he belongs among the tops of his class nationally. A class of 2020 forward with excellent length, upside and talent, Brown’s college recruitment has already hit the highest of levels.
Brown has been the perfect complementary piece in the frontcourt as he's suited up alongside acclaimed prospects like Quentin Grimes, Charles Smith IV and Will Baker this summer. He can shoot the ball from 20 feet, rebound in traffic and finish.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
The 6-foot-7 forward updated his college recruitment.
“I have offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor and Kansas,” he said. “That is all I know for now, but I know there is more.”
Brown gave his thoughts on each of his four early offers.
Kansas: “The offer just means I have to keep getting better because there are going to be kids that are just like me or are better than me so I have to keep working.
“It is a really great school, a really great basketball school. I like Josh Jackson a lot. He is a dog. I like to take a lot of things from what he does.”
Texas: “They are just telling me to keep getting better.
“It is really good to get an offer from them since my mom, my dad and my uncle went there. Sometimes I go up there and scrimmage against the college kids.”
Baylor: “It means a lot. They were in Trevon Duval’s top five and a lot of other people’s top-five, so I know that they are a good school for basketball.”
Texas A&M: “It means a lot. I get to keep the chemistry from my team with Sahvir (Wheeler) going there. A lot of kids from Houston go there, so it is just good chemistry from Texas.”
WHAT’S NEXT
Brown will finish out his travel season on the adidas circuit with the Basketball University 17-under team this summer.
The college recruitment process, in the meantime, should continue to bring in additional high-end scholarship offers thanks to his mix of improving ball skills, a good motor, length and athleticism.
RIVALS’ REACTION
Brown is a special prospect. He has excellent length and instincts as a defender and rebounder and he can already make shots out to the perimeter.
The class of 2020 prospect is soon to become a priority recruit for the majority of the SEC and Big 12, but expect Texas to remain a heavy favorite to the very end thanks to his connections to the school.
