Ellis stays in-state, picks Jayhawks

Even before Perry Ellis began his high school career, he had huge expectations.
A visit by Kansas coach Bill Self for his first high school game at Wichita (Kan.) Heights set the tone for how aggressively the Jayhawks would recruit him and only added to the hype.

Wednesday afternoon, after entertaining serious overtures from Kansas State, Kentucky and Wichita State, the 6-foot-8 Ellis did what most had suspected he would do: He picked Kansas.
"It's the University of Kansas," said Ellis during a press conference at his school.
Ranked No. 24 nationally in the 2012 Rivals150, Ellis is a strong, swift and skilled four man. Over his career, he's been able to extend his range and is now able to dabble on the wing and hurt defenses with his ability to convert on catch-and-shoot opportunities out to 20 feet.
"I've been there so many times, I just felt so comfortable there," said Ellis of Kansas. "All the schools were great, I could succeed at all of them but I just felt great there.
"I'm happy to have it over. I'm excited about my choice. It was a fun experience and I'll miss it, this only happens one time."
Ellis joins No. 144 Zach Peters in KU's early recruiting class.
