Elite programs interested in Reed

A number of elite level college basketball programs are beginning to show an increased interest in Jon Reed. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound shooting guard from Peninsula High School in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., has just one scholarship offer on the table, but its only a matter of time before the offers starting rolling in for Reed.
"Kansas, Miami-FL, Indiana, Arizona, North Carolina and a couple of other schools are starting to recruit me," said Reed. "I recently talked with a coach from UCLA and Coach Kurtis Townsend from Kansas also called. I have also been in contact with a coach from North Carolina and Miami-FL.

"Southern California is the only school that has offered me a scholarship," he added. "I know that I am going to take some visits before I make a final decision, but I don't see myself taking all five visits. UCLA, Miami-FL, California, Indiana and Kansas are some of the schools that I would like to visit."
Now that Reed's junior campaign at Peninsula High School is complete, he is looking to make a splash during the spring and summer AAU circuit. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound shooting guard knows that a successful AAU showing will likely bring in more schools and, more importantly, additional scholarship offers.
"The season didn't really go too well for us," said Reed. "We are actually done for the year, but we should have a better season next year. I don't remember my stats off the top of my head, but I do know that I had a pretty good year.
"Now that my season is over, I plan to spend a lot of time in the gym and weight room," he added. "I want to start getting ready for the spring and summer circuit. I hope to be at my best when the AAU season rolls around."
