Lovewell said that Baker will probably sign early.
"He's as athletic as they come, and he really came on at the end of last season," Lovewell said. "He just needs to get in the weight room and get stronger."
Lovewell had originally signed with Nebraska out of high school in Jacksonville, Fla., but headed out to Iowa Western last fall after failing to qualify academically. Council Bluffs borders Omaha, Neb., and the University of Nebraska is located in Lincoln.
Baker was recruited to Nebraska by the previous coaching staff that was led by current Duquesne Head Coach Danny Nee.
"Nebraska does not have any scholarships for next year because of the new (5/8) scholarship rule," Lovewell said.
Baker averaged 11.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game as a freshman at Iowa Western. He was the team's leading scorer a year ago.
