Eatmon making a name for himself
After missing 20-straight games during his junior year because of appendicitis, not many colleges took notice of
Curtis Eatmon. However, after connecting on 7-of-9 three point attempts during a playoff game and because of his steady performance this spring, Eatmon has seen his recruitment heat up as of late. A number of high major programs are actively recruiting the 6-foot-4, 190-pound point guard from Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
"It has been pretty crazy around here when it comes to Curtis and his recruitment," said Los Osos High School Head Coach David Smith. "Curtis would have probably blown up earlier in the year, but he missed 20-straight games for us because of appendicitis. He returned just in time for the playoffs and played really well.
"During our first playoff game, Curtis hit 7-of-9 three pointers for us," he added. "He really fell off the map last year because of the appendicitis, but high major colleges are starting to take notice of Curtis."
Coach Smith indicated that a number of high major programs have already stopped by the school to visit with Eatmon. He has already taken one official visit and two unofficial visits throughout the course of his recruitment.
"USC, Colorado State, University of San Francisco, San Diego State, San Diego and Utah have been in to meet with Curtis," said Smith. I would say that Vanderbilt, Princeton and Washington are the other schools that have a legitimate interest in Curtis as well. He made unofficial visits to USC and San Diego State already. Curtis also took an official visit to Utah.
"I know that Curtis has been invited to attend USC's team camp in June," he added. "I also know that UCLA has invited Curtis to their team camp as well. He and his family have indicated that they would like to make a decision about a school before the end of this summer. I really don't know if Curtis will take any additional visits before then or not."
