It's always good when a coach and program can wrap up their recruiting efforts early. It allows for focus on the season ahead and better evaluation of younger players. With their latest commitment, sweet shooting forward Timmy Knipp, Jeff Neubauer and his staff at Eastern Kentucky have already landed their third commitment from the class of 2011.
A 6-foot-7 forward who can stretch defenses with his shooting or use his size to score on the interior, Knipp averaged over 30 points per game as a junior at Sandy Hook (Ky.) Elliott County.
His high school coach Greg Adkins told the Richmond Register that the Colonels are getting a guy who can really fill it up.
"He's a face-up player," Adkins said of Knipp. "He's had a real good high school career, but I think he's poised to explode at the college level."
The addition of Knipp rounds out a successful two week run for the Eastern Kentucky staff. He'll join 6-foot-4 shooter Robbie Stenzel and 6-foot-8 big man Eric Stutz to make up what could be a finalized class for the Colonels.
