Dunson headed to the Big 12

It did not take long for Dodie Dunson to make a decision about his future. After taking an official visit to Iowa State this weekend, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound point guard from Brewster Academy gave a commitment to the Cyclones. Dunson had originally planned to take two more official visits, but those visits have been canceled.
"I have given a verbal commitment to Iowa State," said Dunson. "I gave a commitment to Coach Greg McDermott during my official visit this weekend. I was going to take official visits to Minnesota and Tulsa, but those visits will no longer take place.

"My parents came with me during my visit and loved everything about Iowa State," he added. "We arrived late on Friday night and just returned earlier today."
It appears that the decision to attend Iowa State might have been easier than expected for Dunson. He is extremely familiar with the coaching staff, as Coach McDermott recruited Dunson while he was at Northern Iowa.
Dunson's relationship with the Cyclone coaching staff played a huge role in his final decision.
"I was able to spend a lot of time with the coaching staff during my visit," said Dunson. "I also spent time with the players and played a little basketball with them. I really feel that I got to know everybody on the team, which was important to me.
"My decision to attend Iowa State is final," he added. "I am going to sign my Letter-of-Intent next week. My parents and I are also going to sit down and start putting together my summer schedule. I plan to attend summer school at Iowa State."
