Duke Or Kansas For Alexander Kaun

The recruitment for Alexander "Sasha" Kaun is slowly coming to an end. The 6-foot-11, 245-pound center from Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, FL., will take his final official visit to Duke this weekend before making a decision about his future early next week. It was reported earlier in the week that the Blue Devils were considered the overall leaders for Kaun’s services, but it appears those reports were a little misleading.
“I’m not aware that Duke is the leader for Alexander,” Florida Air Academy Head Coach Aubin Goporo said. “I’ve never said Duke was the leader and neither has Alexander, so those reports are false. Kansas and Duke are the final two schools on his list, but he has not taken his visit to Duke.
“Once Alexander returns from his visit this weekend, a decision will be made shortly after he arrives home,” he added. “I would imagine that he will be ready to select a school early next week. I just know that he is ready to get this process over with.”
Kaun has already taken official visits to Kansas and Michigan State, but the Spartans are no longer being considered. Duke has plenty to offer Kaun as far the opportunity to play for one of the best head coaches of all-time. It is also believed that Kaun has what it takes to be an immediate impact type player for the Blue Devils.
“Alexander really can’t go wrong with either school,” Goporo said. “The decision will really be up to him. He has never been to Duke, so this will be a new experience for him. I think he will be looking for some of the things he was looking for when he visited Kansas.
“He’ll look at the atmosphere, the coaching staff and players, the academics and things like that,” he added. “Once he returns from his visit, he can compare the two schools and then make a decision based off those comparisons. I can assure you that there is no leader at this point.” ranks Kaun No. 23 on the Rivals150 list and the fifth best center in the class of 2004.
