Duke lands 2012 five-star

Maybe it's not a huge surprise that Alex Murphy made the decision he did on Monday. However, Murphy did manage to catch a few people off guard when he decided to commit to Duke on Monday.
A 6-foot-8 forward at Southborough (Mass.) St. Mark's, the junior who currently ranks 11th nationally in the Rivals150 for the class of 2012, felt the timing was right for a commitment.

"I had thought about it a lot up to this point and what really did it was a recent visit down there at the beginning of January," Murphy told Rivals.com. "Me and my dad stayed for the weekend and we saw Duke play Maryland at home. I'd had a feeling and I knew that it was the right place for me."
In Murphy, the Blue Devils have landed a versatile five-star forward. He's capable of shooting the ball from deep, attacks the rim aggressively on the fast break and has the versatility to play a bit inside and out.
Murphy - who plays for the New England Playaz during the summer - is Duke's first commitment from the class of 2012. He chose the Blue Devils over scholarship offers from Florida, North Carolina, Boston College, Kansas, Arizona and others.
Needless to say, Murphy is excited to have the process finished and is quite excited about his future destination.
"It feels awesome," said Murphy of his Duke commitment. "The whole process is a lot of fun and it can get crazy. Now I feel like I can go out there and have fun, focus on getting better and just getting ready to go down there."
