Drisdom Makes it Official for Utah

LOS ANGELES -- After getting eliminated from the Best of the Summer Tournament, L.A. Rockfish point guard Timothy Drisdom finally got something off his chest.
The 6-2 point guard from Calvary Chapel H.S. in California has made it official for the University of Utah.

"I just talked to my parents, and they basically told me what I wanted to hear, and kind of let me go and make my decision," Drisdom explained.
Drisdom (pictured at right) also had scholarship offers from Southern California, Miami and Georgia Tech this summer.
"The more I thought about it, the more I was wanted to make my decision," Drisdom said. "Coach Majerus really wanted to commit himself to me as a player and make me better, and help me create a new body. He's really committed to his players, and I like that, and I knew I had a future if I picked the right place, and I think Utah is the right place for me."
Drisdom kicked off the summer at the adidas ABCD Camp in early July, and then distinguished himself with fine summer play for Dave Benezra's L.A. Rockfish program.
While he's not an explosive athletically or from speed standpoint, Drisdom is a steady and heady floor general who shoots and finishes well. More importantly, he generally makes good decisions with the basketball and helps his team win basketball games.
Drisdom has already qualified academically, which means he should be eligible at Utah immediately when he enrolls at the Mountain West school in the fall of 2002.
