Dream weekend ends with pledge for Anderson

Life couldn't get any better for Kevin Anderson. The 6-foot point guard from Peachtree Ridge High School in Duluth, Ga., won a huge game on Saturday and on Sunday he committed to an Atlantic 10 program.
Anderson, one of the top unsigned point guards in the Southeast, pledged his services to Richmond on Sunday. The day before, he piloted his team to a huge region championship victory over nationally-ranked Norcross.

"Honestly, it really is (the best weekend) I've had in a while," a beaming Anderson said. "I made my decision about where I'm going to be in the next four years and we just made the state playoffs a lot easier for ourselves."
The Spiders jumped into the picture a little late in the game but did enough to lure the three-star floor general to Richmond.
"I developed a great relationship with the coaches there and I really liked the direction they are going," Anderson said. "They said they need a point guard and in the Atlantic 10, it's a guard heavy conference. I'm looking forward to helping that program turn around."
That has been Anderson's motto this season. He transferred from Whitefield Academy, a team that lost in the class A Georgia championship last year, to Peachtree Ridge, a team that balanced at a .500 mark. This year, Anderson has been the stablizing force and helped the Lions win big games, including Saturday's huge upset.
Anderson said he is looking forward to making the same kind of impact at Richmond next year.
"The coach there has won everywhere he's been," Anderson said. "At Air Force, (Chris Mooney) helped them turn it around even when he didn't have too many options when it came to recruiting. I'm looking forward to helping them do that (at Richmond)."
