Drake to Play in SEC

After watching Alabama accept the commitment of shooting guard Alonzo Gee, George Drake has committed to Vanderbilt. Drake, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound shooting guard out of Calera (Ala.) High School opted to head up I-65 instead of attending an in-state school.
"The more I thought about it and prayed about it, the more my decision kept coming back to Vanderbilt," Drake told The Birmingham News. "It's the place for me."

Drake, the No. 44 ranked shooting guard in the class of 2004, was down to Alabama and Vanderbilt before the domino effect took place this week. He was also considering in-state schools Auburn and UAB.
By securing one of its two scholarship needs with the commitment of the 2004 2A Player of the Year in Alabama, Vanderbilt can now focus solely on landing a forward with more size. Top priorities are Kendrick Price and Chad Millard. Although J.P. Prince is primarily a point guard, he still is a target because of his size and versatility.
Drake is a solid shooting guard with an all around game. He is athletic, can attack the basket, and shoot the deep ball. The Commodores are looking for him to fill the role of a knock down shooter on the wing who can also defend.
