Dozier Visits Miami, More Trips Coming

Robert Dozier, the 6-foot-8, 191 pound forward from Lithonia HS in Georgia, made a trip south to the University of Miami last weekend. The No. 71 player on the Rivals150 said the trip opened his eyes to the future ACC program. Now, he’s looking at another trip in the next couple of weeks.
Dozier, a long and lanky forward oozing with potential, visited the Hurricanes and came home enlightened about the program in Coral Gables.

“I had fun,” Dozier said. “Before I went down there, I didn’t really think much about them but that changed after going. It’s pretty even right now (with Georgia).”
The sunshine and South Beach helps Miami’s case but that isn’t what draws Dozier to the Hurricanes.
“They have plenty of playing time available at the spot I play. They don’t have any threes at all and they said I’d had a chance to play right away.”
Georgia is in a similar position. The Bulldogs will lose four starters from an eight man rotation. Dozier has said in the past that the opportunity to play right away was one of the more appealing things about the home school. Dozier discussed both schools and their styles.
“The have two totally different styles. Georgia is more of a slowed down offense and Miami likes to get out and run. That’s what I like. Plus they run straight man to man defense all game,” he said.
So what’s next?
“I think I might take an official visit to UGA (on March 27th),” Dozier said. He’ll be playing in the Georgia North-South all-star game with the likes of Dwight Howard, Randolph Morris, Channing Toney and Toney Douglas at Savannah State this Sunday.
Dozier has already been to Athens but he said another trip would, “help me get to learn the campus a little better and the players, too.”
“I talked to UAB yesterday and depending on how they do in the tournament, I’ll probably visit them sometime after they get done,” he said.
NC State hasn’t been in contact in a couple of weeks he said but isn’t officially putting them out of the race. And Memphis, the school Dozier originally verbally committed to, has not been in contact with the forward in nearly a month despite John Calipari’s visit to Atlanta during Lithonia’s run in the playoffs.
Dozier averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks a game this season.
