Doyle Helps St. Doms Advance

UNIONDALE, NEW YORK -- St. John's bound forward Tim Doyle is getting close to finishing up his great career at St. Dominic. But right now, he just wants to help his team keep advancing in the playoffs.
Doyle did his part tonight by scoring 16 points, grabbing nine rebounds and tossing six assists. St. Dominic also received solid games from Brian Houlihan and Alex Patsos en route to a 73-49 semifinal victory over Holy Trinity held on the campus of Hofstra University.

St. Dominic quickly scored the first eight points of the game but Holy Trinity dropped in the next 10 to take the lead, its only advantage of the game. By the time the first quarter had ended, St. Dominic led 20-14 because of four three-pointers that connected.
The lead expanded to 30-19 with 3:58 left to go in the half after Patsos dropped in a three-pointer. The half ended with St. Dominic leading 35-23.
The lead ballooned to 51-33 with 2:40 left in the third after Doyle connected on a three-pointer. Doyle then went end to end after grabbing a rebound to make it 53-33. This game was history.
Both teams emptied the benches with about three to four minutes to go. Patsos finished with 15 points and Houlihan scored 16 for the winners. Dan Feeney led Holy Trinity with 16 points and Higgens Lamore scored 13 in defeat.
St. Dominic will play St. Mary's for the right to face the New York City CHSAA "B" championship. Both teams meet this Tuesday at Hofstra University.
