Downey Enjoyed Visit To Tenn; Maryland Next

Devan Downey, the No. 42 ranked player in the class of 2005, spent the weekend touring the Tennessee campus and spent a great deal of time with the Volunteer coaching staff and members of the team. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound point guard from Chester (S.C.) High School was impressed with his visit to Knoxville, but is not yet ready to make a decision about his future.
“My visit to Tennessee went pretty good,” Downey said. “Scooter McFadgon was my host for the weekend he is a cool guy. I really liked the campus because it was calm and quiet. The atmosphere was great and really fits my style. I also enjoyed playing ball with the guys on the team.

“The players were great and treated me like one of their own,” he added. “The one thing that really stood out to me was the atmosphere of the campus. I really felt comfortable during my visit.”
Downey, the No. 8 ranked point guard in the class, still plans to take his final four official visits before putting an end to his recruitment. The South Carolina native believes that taking all of his visits will provide him the opportunity to make the best decision in regards to his future.
“Oh yes, I definitely plan to take my final four visits,” Downey said. “Maryland, Arkansas, Cincinnati and Miami-FL are the schools I will visit before I am ready to decide. My next official visit is to Maryland, so I am looking forward to that.
“All five schools have done a great job recruiting me, so that is another reason I am going to take all of my visits,” he added. “I also want to get a good look at each campus and get a feel for the coaching staff and players. I will be ready to make a decision after I am finished with my visits.”
