Dotzlers Commitment Still Solid

2005 prospect Josh Dotzler, who committed to Creighton prior to his sophomore season, led Bellevue West of Omaha, Nebraska to a 23-2 record and state championship. According to Bellevue West coach Doug Woodard, the 6-foot, 180-pound point guard’s commitment is solid as long as Coach Dana Altman remains at Creighton.
“Josh was an early commitment to Creighton,” said Coach Woodard. “He actually committed before his sophomore year. He was coming off a really strong summer and had people like Kansas, Houston, Iowa State, and Texas coming on to him, but he comes from a huge family of 15 and wanted his family to be a part of his college experience. He has a great relationship with his family. His commitment to Creighton is firm as long as Dana [Coach Altman] is there.”

In Bellevue West’s state championship win over Omaha Westside, Dotzler put up an impressive stat line with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals. These strong numbers are right in line with Dotzler’s averages on the season of 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals per game.
“Josh has the best instincts for passing and defense of any player I have ever seen,” said Coach Woodard. “He is a very unique player. He’s not a great shooter, an average shooter. He’s an average athlete vertically, but he is very strong and quick with the ball. He was our leading rebounder as a point guard. He is strong enough to step right in and start for Creighton.”
