Donnie McGrath: Preparing For Providence

Donnie McGrath, a 6-2 1/2 combo guard from JFK High School in Somers, NY, told us he is looking forward to playing at Providence College next season.
"I realized they only had one offer and they were hot after me," McGrath said. "So I felt this was the right time and right situation for me to make my decision."

McGrath has been solid thus far against some really tough competition at the ABCD camp this week. "It's really competitive," McGrath said. "I like that. There are a lot of great players here to compare yourself to."
It appears McGrath belongs. He knocked down 14 points in the first session we saw him play. "It's a different feel to it when you are playing with four other guys you have not played with before," McGrath said. "But it's great competition."
McGrath said he is working on a strength plan. "Coach Welsh gave it to me," McGrath said. "So I have been sticking to it."
McGrath said he is happy he made his decision early. "I can just concentrate on getting myself ready for college," he said. "I know I can play a lot there. It was the right situation for me. My parents and family can come and watch me play too. They are very happy."
