This past season, Nixon posted career-high numbers in scoring (8.1 rpg - including a game-high 28), rebounding (a team-high 6.4 rpg), field goal percentage (.494) and minutes played (17.6 mpg). He also ranked fourth in the ACC with a career-high average of 3.36 offensive rebounds per game.
The Florida State athletic department stated that, "Few players in the collegiate ranks rival his improvement during his three-year career." The following comment was added:
"Lost an incredible 80 pounds between his junior and senior seasons. 'I ate a lot of chicken, turkey, rice and vegetables and crank a great deal of water,' said Dixon who waist size shrunk from 54 inches to 44. 'I stayed away from
soda, worked out every day and it (the weight) just steadily
came off. I had to change my whole wardrobe. I threw a lot
of clothes away.'"
