Diarra Waits for South Florida Decision

Konimba Diarra, the improving 6-9 center/power forward from Our Savior New America H.S. in Centereach, N.Y., told Rivalshoops.com that he is taking a wait and see approach this spring with the South Florida situation.
Diarra signed in the fall with South Florida while Seth Greenberg was the head coach, but Greenberg has since left to take over the same position at Virginia Tech.

"I am going to wait and see who is going to be the next coach," Diarra said. "I think it will be Coach Z's (Zimroth, assistant at USF under Greenberg) shot to be the head coach."
Diarra spoke with Rivalshoops.com this past weekend from the Providence Jam Fest, where he played with the New York Elite program. He scored 17 points in a loss to Dyckman that eliminated the Elite from playoff contention.
Diarra said he spoke with Coach Greenberg shortly after the coach accepted his new position at Virginia Tech.
"He called, but I didn't get mad at him," Diarra said. "He explained himself and said he was sorry about it and I wished him good luck."
If Diarra does seek a release from his letter of intent to South Florida, he could be subject to a mandatory one-year sit out rule. Of course, he could appeal to the NCAA to avoid such a penalty.
Whatever the situation, Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted, so stay tuned!
