DeWitz Makes It Official

Earlier this morning RivalsHoops.com reported that Nick DeWitz, a talented 6-7 small forward from Mesa J.C. in Arizona, would verbal to Iowa today. "I made it official today," DeWitz said. "I chose Iowa over Indiana."
DeWitz said there were several reasons why he chose the Hawkeyes. "I like the coaches and players and had a real good time with them on my visit," DeWitz said. "I think the style of play at Iowa will give me a chance to expose my skills and hopefully get to the next level."

DeWitz took four official visits this fall -- Fresno State (Aug. 30-Sept. 1), Indiana (Sept. 6-8), Florida State (Sept. 20-22) and Iowa (Oct. 4-6). He also considered Oregon State. But it was a two-horse race at the end between the Hoosiers and Iowa.
Many had thought Indiana had led. They did, according to DeWitz. But after the Iowa visit, DeWitz did some more thinking and liked what he saw at Iowa. "It's a great place to play," DeWitz said. "They have a great coach and I got along great with him. It was a tough decision."
