DeShaun Williams Finds New Home

DeShaun Williams, a 6-3 shooting guard from Paterson, NJ, has enrolled at Iona according to our affiliate ExtermeOrange.com.
Williams, who started 33 games for the Syracuse Orangemen last season, averaged 15.9 points, 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals as a junior. He was dismissed this summer after failing to maintain the school's academic standards.

Syracuse reporter Judy Salamone wrote that Williams will be paying his own way this season at the New Rochelle, NY school.
Williams needed a new start following a troublesome year. He was supended for three games at the start of the 2001-02 season for driving while impaired. Then last month, the Paterson, NJ native was cleared of assault charges stemming from a bar brawl hours after completion of final exams.
