Derrick Stewart Has Balanced Offensive Game

Derrick Stewart, a 6-5, 225 pound combination forward from Columbia J.C. in Sonora, Calif., is one of the better sophomores in the California JUCO ranks.
A native of Norfolk, Va., Stewart has an inside-outside type of game. He can post defenders up in the low block and score around the basket or via short turnaround jumpers. Although he's not a ball handler, he also displayed the ability to knock down open jumpers out to three point land at the recent Modesto J.C. Basketball Tournament.

On top of his offensive skills, Stewart is also a good passer for the Claim Jumpers, and was pretty unselfish in the game we saw him at Modesto.
According to Columbia Head Coach Andrew Vasher, Utah State, Alabama Birmingham, Cal-State Northridge, St. Mary's and Sacramento State have all expressed interest in Stewart thus far.
Stewart plans to sign late, and JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on his recruitment this winter, so stay tuned.
