DePaul lands four-star point guard

Just a few days ago, Shane Larkin turned 18. Late Tuesday night, he exercised his right to vote when he elected to end his recruitment by giving a verbal commitment to Oliver Purnell and his staff at DePaul.
Ranked #62 nationally in the class of 2011, the product of Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips cited the Blue Demons expected uptempo style of play as a major factor.

"I picked the Blue Demons because they are in a basketball conference and they fit my style of play perfectly," Larkin told Rivals.com. "I chose because I have a strong relationship with the coaches and they have a good relationship with my parents."
Starring during the summer for Diana Neal's Showtime Ballers, Larkin proved to be an explosive scorer. In addition to his ability to explode for big numbers as a scorer, the 5-foot-11 point guard is also vastly improved as a facilitator for others.
Larkin was also thinking about life beyond basketball when he made his choice.
"You can develop relationships with people in the Fortune 500 companies in Chicago," said Larkin. "You can have good job opportunities after school if basketball doesn't work out."
A four-star prospect, Larkin joins local wing players Macarri Brooks and Jamie Crockett to make up Purnell's first recruiting haul.
