A 6-foot-2 product of Upper Marlboro (Md.) Clinton Christian, Davis' high school coach Chris Cole confirmed his player's commitment to Rivals.com Wednesday morning and cited a DePaul assistant for going above and beyond.
"Jon Davis believes that Depaul staff was the most dedicated to improving him as a player and a young man," Cole told Rivals.com. "Renard Phillips did an unbelievable job in the recruiting process and his honesty and energy is contagious. I know Jon will be in good hands."
The Blue Demons are getting a very good scorer in Davis. He can shoot from deep, creates well enough off the dribble to set up his own offense and is a sneaky athlete around the rim and in transition.
Davis is also one of those guys with a very short memory. In other words, if it feels like there is leather in his hands then he thinks he's got a good shot open to him and he won't let prior misses prevent him from pulling the string on a shot. That confidence serves him well and will make him even more effective as he becomes more discretionary with his shooting.
Slated to do a year of prep school and be a member of the class of 2015, the three-star prospect is moving back to his natural class of 2014. He joins three-star junior college forward Rashaun Stimage in the Blue Demons class.
