Denham Brown, a strong and athletic 6-6, 205 pound swingman/shooting guard from Bathhurst Heights H.S. in Toronto, Ont., is considering a number of high major programs entering the July evaluation period.
At this past weekend's NBA Players Association Camp in Washington, D.C., Brown told the Insiders Report that he has an interest in Illinois, Clemson, Virginia, Wake Forest, Kansas, UConn, Syracuse and Villanova.
Although he played a bit passively at times, Brown has a tremendous physique, tailor made for mixing it up around the rim on stickbacks. Of course, he also has the ability to play on the perimeter and knock down jumpers. In many ways, he is a double threat because of his outside and inside capabilities.
Brown averaged 30 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks per game at Bathhurst Heights, though there is talk of him transferring to a prep school in the United States next year. He previously had told us at the Charlie Weber Tournament at Villanova that he has a 2.6 GPA and 820 SAT score.
According to Grass Roots Canada program director Ro Russell, Brown will most likely attend the Nike All-American Camp this summer. Beyond that, his summer plans are uncertain.
IR will keep you posted on Brown and other top players in the class of 2002 in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
