Deng Discusses His Recruiting

Luol Deng, RivalsHoops.com's second rated player in the 2003 class, told us after Blair Academy worked out yesterday that he had a good time on his visit to Duke. "I really enjoyed my visit," Deng said.
Deng added: "The one thing I enjoyed was I got to know the guys better there and what kind of guys they are. It was a good atmosphere. The Blue and White game had a lot of fans. They chanted my name. It went well. I really liked it. I can't really say where I rank the visit because that's what I will be doing this week. I am not going to rank them, I am just going to pick one."

Deng took his official visit to Duke this past weekend. "I am not going to say this is one out of the two," Deng said. "Or this is my final two. I am just going to pick one out of the list I have right now."
The list currently includes Duke, Virginia, Missouri, and Indiana. "My dad is coming up this week," Deng said. "I am going to spend time with him, my coach (Joe Mantegna), my brother (Ajou, currently a player at Fairfield) is coming down. We are going to sit down and talk about it. And before he comes on Wednesday, I am trying to make my mind up just to see what I like and see what they say when I tell them. We will discuss it. They can tell me what whether they think it's right. I know they will support me in whatever I choose."
A source close to Deng told Mike Sullivan of RivalsHoops.com that Luol already has a decision. But his father is a big part of the process too and Luol is very close with his family. Luol is seeking out some advice from his family.
Deng has already visited Missouri, Virginia, and Indiana too. Each time after his official visits, Deng has said plenty of positive words about the schools. So this is a tough race to call.
*More on the Deng interview later on this site. RivalsHoops.com is transcribing the interview and will place it on the site as soon as it is completed. Blake does ask Deng about each of the schools left on Luol's list. This will be published in the Q&A transcript.
