Luol Deng, the outstanding 6-8 multi-purpose player from Blair Academy in New Jersey, continues to help his team, the New Jersey Demons advance at the Super Showcase here in Orlando, Florida. Deng scored 21 points in the night session to help his team defeat a squad from Memphis.
Deng told us that Virginia, Wake Forest, Missouri, Duke, Indiana, Florida, Fairfield, George Washington, and Texas are high on his list. Texas head coach Rick Barnes, Missouri leader Quin Snyder, Coach K from Duke, Indiana head coach Mike Davis, Virginia assistant Walt Fuller and an assistant from Wake Forest were on hand to watch Deng compete today.
"I am going to take my visits in September," Deng said today. "I haven't decided when I will take my visits but I hope to decide before my season starts."
Deng said the recent addition of Indiana was actually prompted by him watching film from the past season. "I watch a lot of game film to see what a team's style is," Deng said. "And I got really interested in checking Indiana out. So I spoke to coach Davis and told him I was interested in talking to them. So I have."
Deng said Indiana has to catch up to the other schools since he only started speaking to the Hoosiers. "They told me they thought I had my list all closed," Deng said. "But I told them it wasn't and I was very interested in talking to them."
Deng said he was unsure of what schools he would officially visit. "If this was an easy decision, I would have committed a long time ago," Deng said. "This is not an easy decision."
