Demetrius Nichols Has Top Four

SMITHFIELD, RHODE ISLAND -- Demetrius Nichols, a 6-7, 190-pound swingman from St. Andrew's High School in Barrington, Rhode Island, is a player with tremendous upside to his game. Nichols is much improved from a year ago. He is a player who works hard at both ends of the court.
Rivalshoops.com watched Nichols play two games this past weekend at the 2002 National Prep School Invitational. He was impressive especially in his first game where he rung up 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

He averaged almost 14 points a game, six rebounds, three assists, and three blocks last year as a sophomore. Most of the Big East schools have already watched Nichols play in person.
Nichols scores most of his points inside and is working on improving his perimeter game. He still needs to polish this part of his game. He is likely going to be a top 50 player. He rebounds, blocks shots, has nice form on his jumper, but is tough inside.
"My four top schools are Syracuse, Providence, Villanova, and Seton Hall," Nichols said. "I plan on taking unofficial visits in the Spring. Then probably making a decision by August."
Nichols told us that Syracuse and Providence are at the top of his list but said he would make his decision based upon his campus visits.
