Delks Take First of Five Visits Today

The Delk twins from Jackson Northside (Tenn.) High School have stated from “day one” that they will play their college ball together. Today Reginald Delk and Richard Delk begin a series of five official visits to schools in the southeast with a visit to Mississippi State.
“We are excited about it,” said Richard Delk, a 6-foot-5, 175-pound point guard. “We leave Friday after school.”

Although he could not site the dates, Richard Delk said that UAB, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Auburn will receive visits.
Although Reginald Delk, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound shooting guard, named Mississippi State, Auburn, and UAB as favorites a couple weeks back, Richard said a fourth school is also a favorite.
“You need to add Ole Miss to that list,” he said. “They have always been a favorite. Reginald probably just forgot to name them.”
Tennessee is last on the list of five primarily because the Delks are aware that Tyler Smith and Jamont Gordon are the top two perimeter targets for the Volunteers.
Mississippi State has been viewed as the leader for the Delk’s since the beginning of their recruitment. At certain points in their recruitment, the Delks have even named the Bulldogs as their leader, but recently, they have hesitated to name any one school a leader.
“No, Mississippi State is not really a leader,” said Richard Delk. “We are going down there to find out.”
If they have an impressive visit, is there a chance the two might commit before taking their other visits?
“No,” said Richard Delk. “We wouldn’t do that. We want to take our other visits and weigh our options.”
Reginald Delk, the No. 81 ranked player in the Rivals150, is an outstanding scorer. He is long, athletic, skilled with the ball, and has a knack at getting the ball in the basket. He can shoot the deep ball off the pass, attack the rim, and hit in the midrange on either pull ups or floaters. Reginald is solid in all aspects of the game.
Previously not on the same level as Reginald as a prospect, Richard has caught up with Reginald, and in the view of Rivals.com, Richard is an even better prospect with his stronger all around game and versatility. Richard, ranked No. 73 in the Rivals150, is a point guard with very good height who can also play on the wing. He is an excellent defender on any perimeter position and a tremendous rebounder from the point guard position. Not the scorer that Reginald is, Richard does shoot the three pointer off the pass very well.
The one issue for both players is that they need to gain weight and get stronger for the high major level. It is a very real possibility that both players will progress just as their uncle Tony Delk progressed from a skinny high schooler playing in rural Tennessee to a multi-year NBA veteran.
