Columbia (SC) Dreher wing Tevin Mack took his final official visit this past weekend to South Carolina. Prior to visiting the Gamecocks, the four-star prospect had visited Clemson, Georgia, Connecticut and VCU. With all his visits behind him, the next step for Mack is to sit down with the people closest to him and move towards a decision.
Mack had told Rivals.com last week that he wanted to decide by the end of this week. That might not be the case anymore.
"In my mind, I want to get it over with really soon, but it's not that easy," Mack admitted. "I don't really have a time table, but it's going to be whenever I wake up and feel like I know where I want to go. It definitely will be within the next two weeks. My mind keeps changing every day. It's still possible I decide this week, but not for sure."
Mack had such a great time on each visit that the decision has become very tough on him.
"I get along with the players everywhere and the coaches all seem like great coaches," he said. "That's why this decision is so hard."
Mack likes each school on his list for mostly different reasons. We asked him to break down what would be the reason for him picking each school on his list.
Clemson: "They play in the ACC. That would be the main reason if I pick them."
Georgia: "Definitely playing time. If I go there, I feel like I could play right away. Out of all the schools, I feel like I could the most there right away. The SEC is a great conference. I liked the way they used Kentavious Caldwell-Pope."
South Carolina: "The main reason I would pick them would be because it's right here where I'm from. That would be big for people around here. It's in the SEC too, and I would have a chance to play there right away as well."
UConn: "They are UConn. They win a lot of games and produce pros. They get a lot of exposure. Those would be the main reasons I pick them."
VCU: "They win a lot of games. I like their playing style. They get a lot of shots. They are stepping up their out of conference schedule next year too. Shaka Smart is a great coach too."
On the flip side, there is a sticking point with each school keeping him from pulling the trigger on a decision.
"I think every school on my list has something that makes me think a little bit about if I really want to go there. It's different with each school based on coaching situation, the school in general, the team and everything else."
When it comes down to crunch time, every recruit has an idea of what they are looking for in a school. With Mack, he says there is one factor that will out-weigh all others.
"Definitely playing early is the most important. If you play early, in my opinion, it helps you get noticed by the NBA scouts. The only way you get better in my eyes is by playing. You don't get better sitting on the bench."
