Decision Soon For Kei Madison

Kei Madison announced for Mississippi State in October. The question now is, will he be able to sign with the Bulldogs in November?
Madison, the 6-9, 220 pound forward from Okaloosa-Walton C.C. in Niceville, Fla., committed to MSU back in early October, shortly after taking an official visit to the SEC school.

Madison picked Mississippi State over Cincinnati this fall, although he had signed last fall with Alabama when he attended Iowa Western C.C.
And that's where the rub comes in -- there is an SEC rule which prohibits a player from spending less than three semesters at a junior college and signing with a conference member.
Madison spent his freshman year (1999-2000) at Iowa Western, but was forced to leave the school last fall after a non-basketball related incident. He finished out the fall term at IWCC, and had planned to transfer to Southern Union last winter and finish up there before heading to Alabama.
But Madison left Southern Union just weeks into classes and never finished out there. He opted to transfer to Okaloosa-Walton C.C. in Florida for this season, and as a result, he will have only spent two full semesters by the time he graduates from O-W in the spring.
As a result, Mississippi State has filed for a waiver with the Southeastern Conference that will allow them to sign Madison this fall.
Okaloosa-Walton Head Coach Bruce Stewart told JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com that a decision is expected by Tuesday, Nov. 20.
If Mississippi State is granted a waiver, Madison will sign with the Bulldogs this fall.
If the SEC rules against the Bulldogs, Madison's recruitment could get thrown wide open this winter. We'll keep you posted on the results in the next 24-48 hours, so stay tuned.
