December a good month for Lowhorn
It is not uncommon for college prospects to sign during the early signing period in November only to have sub-par senior seasons. Not Dior Lowhorn. The 6-foot-7, 230 pound combo forward from Berkeley (Calif.) has had a phenomenal start thus far this season and is the primary reason the Yellowjackets are expected to contend for a Northern California Regional Division I title.

The senior, who signed with coach Bobby Knight at Texas Tech in November, dropped 33 points on Skyline at Berkeley's own Yellowjacket Classic on December 10.
He followed up that performance with games of 40 and 37 against Tokay and Hayward, the defending Northern California Division II champions, respectively at the Mel Goode Tournament in Yuba City the following week and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Lowhorn scored 19 of his game-high 27 points, including four 3-pointers in the first half to help the Yellowjackets (7-3) beat Salesian 60-52 at the MK Holiday Classic in Richmond on December 21.
Dior is currently in San Diego with his team for the Torrey Pines Holiday Prep Classic, where they faced the #1 ranked team in the country, St. Anthony of New Jersey, among other tough competition. In yesterday's contest against Newark Memorial, Lowhorn led the Yellowjackets with 25 points in a losing effort.
Since our last official scouting report last spring, Dior has made some major strides in his game, namely range on his jumper. Dior was a very capable mid-range shooter who is now becoming more and more reliable from behind the arc. If this trend continues and he develops the requisite handles, Dior will make the complete transition to a college small forward by his sophomore year.
