DeCasas receiving high-major interest

Despite the fact that Chad DeCasas is just five games into the basketball season, a number of college coaches’ have already been spotted in the gym to get a closer look at the 6-foot-5, 205-pound shooting guard from Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo, Calif. While DeCasas is pleased with where his recruitment stands at this time, he is interested in hearing from several schools in particular.
“Colorado State, Gonzaga, Santa Barbara, San Diego State and San Diego are the schools that have been by to watch me play this year,” DeCasas said. “New Mexico is another school that is starting to show a lot of interest, but they have not been by to watch me play yet.

“I would like to start receiving more interest from schools like Oregon, Stanford, Minnesota and Michigan,” he added. “Those are four schools that I have a great deal of interest in, so I hope that they become more interested in me during my recruitment.”
DeCasas indicated that he does not intend to make any decisions about his future anytime soon. Most of his attention will be focused on his junior year of basketball and, more importantly, his academics.
However, DeCasas stated that he would like to take all five official visits next fall before deciding on a school.
“I think it would be great to take advantage of taking all five official visits,” DeCasas said. “I am really interested in all of the schools that are interested in me, so seeing as many campuses as I possibly can would help me in this process.
“My family and I have a strong relationship and I am very familiar with where I am right now,” he added. “I think that visiting some schools outside of this area would be great. It would give me an idea of what college life is all about. I just need to get a closer look at some of the schools that are really involved in my recruitment. After I visit some of those schools, I will be ready to take the next step.”
