DeAngelo Collins, a 6-9, 225-pound skilled forward from Inglewood High School in California, has an interesting philosophy in his recruiting process.

"If a school is interested in recruiting me, I am interested in them," Collins said. "They like something they see in me so I should talk to them."

Collins said for the most part his coach has handled most of the calls. But he listed UCLA, Michigan, Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, Maryland, St. Louis, Kentucky, Kansas, and Connecticut as schools he is interested in right now.

Collins, who put on a terrific show at the ABCD all star game in early July, is one of the best players available in the class of 2002. There is speculation too that he might bypass the college level and put his name into next June's NBA draft.

Collins said he is not thinking about that right now and only concerned with his senior year. Collins said he has not lined up any official visits yet.
