DC Native Has Top List

Spillman Truhart, a 6-8, 180 pound combo forward from Eastern Senior High School in Washington, DC, said his list of schools includes Georgetown, North Carolina, Maryland and Duke.
"I've had unofficial visits to North Carolina and Maryland," Truhart said during the Five Star Basketball Camp on the campus of Robert Morris University. Truhart was there for both Pitt IV and Pitt V.

He said he's plans to major in sports medicine. Truhart has a 2.7 GPA and scored 1010 on the SAT.
This summer he played with neighborhood teams in the Youth Basketball League of America (YBOA). "We're going to have fall basketball this year," Truhart said. "The full league (DCIAA) will be competing for about a month beginning in September. The teams will be coached by assistants."
This development is apparently in repsonse to the rule change implemented last fall by the NCAA that eliminated the traditional fall recruiting season of AAU-type tournaments. The contact period, which runs from September 9, 2002 through October 5, 2002, has the following limitation: "No evaluations at sites other than the prospect’s educational institution."
Truhart has an ambitious agenda for this summer. "I'm working on my jump shot, dribbling, defense, passing, foul shooting and rebounding," he said.
His two weeks with the counselors at Five Star will take him a long way toward achieving that goal.
