Day Done: GA Guard Makes Decision

Dwayne Day has known where he wants to spend his college career for some time. Over the weekend, he decided to make it official. RivalsHoops.com spoke with the 6-foot-5, 185 pound shooting guard from Montgomery Co. HS (GA) and talked about his verbal commitment.
Day told us last week that South Carolina was his leader and on Monday night, he decided to make it official to the Gamecocks, making a verbal commitment to the SEC school. When it all boiled down to it, Day said he felt the most comfortable in Columbia.

"I just got along with them the best," Day said. "South Carolina gives me the opportunity to play right away. Plus I just felt safe there, like it was home. There are no problems with academics and with basketball."
Day is a solid prospect and should contribute immediately for the Gamecocks. He’s a versatile guard that has respectable range on his jumper. That was one of the things that attracted the USC coaching staff to the Georgia native.
"They told me they needed somebody to shoot the ball and make shots," Day said. "They watched me a lot with the Atlanta Celtics this summer and they know I can do that. Plus, they said they want me to be a leader and keep everybody motivated. I think I can do that and keep everybody alive."
The proximity of the campus was also a factor. Columbia is only two and a half hours away from his home in Mt. Vernon, GA.
Day chose the Gamecocks over Florida, Georgia, Georgia State and Ole Miss. He is currently ranked 141 on the Rivals150.
