Davis interested in several new programs

Mike Davis, the 6-foot-8, 215-pound small forward from Gordon Tech High School in Chicago, Ill., has seen a number of schools drop off his list as of late, but several new schools are beginning to show interest. While Davis has yet to officially trim his list of schools, the Illinois native plans to have a top list of schools by the end of the evaluation period.
“I would say that my recruitment is going pretty good right now,” Davis said. “A couple of schools have dropped off my list because of verbal commitments, but a couple of new schools are starting to show interest. I currently have scholarship offers from Southern Illinois, Bradley, Northern Iowa, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

“Georgia, Fresno State, Ball State and Santa Clara are the newest schools to start showing interest,” he added. “None of the new schools have offered scholarships yet, but I think they want to see me play throughout the month of July. Once that happens, I think several new schools will start to offer.”
Davis made it perfectly clear that he remains wide open when it comes to his recruitment, but also indicated that he plans to take official visits to two schools in particular in the fall.
“I do plan to use all five visits when that time comes,” Davis said. “I have not cut my list of schools yet, but Southern Illinois and Illinois are two schools that I want to visit in the fall. Illinois has not offered me a scholarship yet, but I do know that they want to get a good look at me this month. Southern Illinois and Illinois are the only schools that I definitely want to visit.”
Davis and the rest of the Illinois Wolves will participate in the Best of Midwest Tournament in Indiana this week. He will also participate in the Reebok Big Time and the AAU National Championship in Florida.
