Davis Gearing Up for AAU

Mike Davis from Gordon Tech in Chicago is gearing up for a big summer with the Illinois Wolves. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound combo forward has a lot of schools ready to track his progress this summer.
Several mid-majors, including Southern Illinois, Bradley, Wisconsin- Green Bay, Northern Iowa, and Western Michigan, have extended offers. Davis has one of these schools on his list, but he is mostly looking at high major schools.

"The schools that I’m interested in right now are Illinois, Purdue, Wisconsin, UConn, Dayton, DePaul, Florida State, Louisville, and Southern Illinois,” said Davis. “In March, Purdue, Dayton, DePaul, Southern Illinois, Ball State, Indiana State, Butler, and Northern Iowa all called.”
Although Davis will be busy with the Wolves trying to win tournaments and develop his game, he would like to get familiar with some of the schools recruiting him.
"This summer I'd like to visit as many schools on my list as I possibly can,” he said. “I want to learn more about these schools before I start taking my official visits. I will start taking my official visits after I take the ACT at the end of June. I probably will take all five of my visits."
"Education is the most important thing to me when it comes to choosing a school. I will probably major in Math. I also want to go to a school that is not to big but not to small. I will also look at the environment around the school."
Surrounded by other quality players such as Bobby Frasor, Bryan Mullins, and Sead Odzic, Davis feels the Wolves have a chance to make some noise this summer.
"I’m looking forward to this AAU season,” he said. “I want to win the National Championship. Individually, I want to become a better leader and work hard at getting better at every practice."
"I enjoy playing for Coach Mullins. He has taught me a lot. I think he's a great coach. Without him I wouldn't be getting the exposure that I’m getting."
The first national event for the Wolves will be the Kingwood Classic.
