Davies staying right at home

Three-star prospect Brandon Davies came on strong at the end of the summer, catching the attention of high majors around the west. But in the end the 6-foot-8, 200-pound power forward from Provo (Utah) High School will stay right at home for college.
After previous visits to California, Gonzaga and Utah State, Davies committed to home town BYU after his visit over the weekend.

"Pretty much the main reason I committed to BYU is that it is right here," said Davies. "The people who have always supported me will be able to keep watching me play."
An athletic and versatile big man, Davies should have an early impact on the BYU program.
"The coaches and myself feel I can have an impact as a freshman," he said. "I'll play the power forward and be inside and outside depending on who is guarding me."
Now Davies attention turns to bringing a third straight state title back to Provo High.
Davies joins Rivals150 guard Tyler Haws and Nate Austin and Ian Harward in the BYU 2009 recruiting class.
